With our team of more than 200 Qredsters covering 6 EU markets, we are now looking for an Engineering Manager to help lead the next chapter in our growth journey as a bank

    Sounds great right, but what about the role and the team?

    The Engineering Department at Qred is built on the principles of the DevOps movement, which for us means that our development teams have the end-to-end responsibilities of their products, including its infrastructure, operations and security.

    As an Engineering Manager for the Platform team, you lead a team of six consisting of our DevOps, CloudOps, SecOps Engineers, and IT Support Specialist, which acts like an enabler & support function which the development teams collaborate with. The platform team provides the cloud platform, delivery mechanisms, tools & practices, observability tools, and security insights for our development teams. The team bridges any competence gaps such as container orchestration, penetration-testing, networking, best practices in IT Operations. The team also hosts the digital workplace experience and internal IT Support.

    As we see it, an Engineering Manager with us has 3 main focus areas:

    People: You are the line manager of your team, responsible for personal and professional growth through delegated responsibilities and clearly set expectations. As an empowering leader, you lead by example, communicate vision, and simplify for your engineers to be successful. You hold biweekly 1-on-1s for feedback and conduct annual performance reviews with individual goal setting. In the intersection of people management and leading your team's way of working, you consider each individual's strengths to build a strong diverse team.

    Delivery: You are the delivery lead of the Platform Engineering Enabler team and its support of our product teams. The team drives cloud platform improvements, introduces new tools and practices, and mentors the engineers of our product teams to be successful in operating their own services. Your team deliverables are measured by completed initiatives, developer experience and adoption rate of the tools and practices your team provides, and the collaboration it has with product teams.

    Technology: You are constantly evaluating and improving the platform, our tools, and practices that your team provides. You evaluate our platform on a strategic and tactical level, and keep an updated and clear view of any technical debts, future roadblocks and risks, to maintain and keep a resilient, compliant platform for the rapid development of the company's products.

    On the management level you collaborate with the Head of Engineering, Lead Architect, Engineering Managers, and the CTO.

    Here's what we're looking for:

    • A broad hands-on experience in IT Operations, Software Development, AWS, Github, scripting/developing, and SaaS services
    • Experience in compliance frameworks, information security and working with auditors
    • Proven experience in leading a team of engineers with different personalities, and competencies

    As a person we're looking for someone with

    • A business mindset and a natural feeling of responsibility for the team and its output
    • An interest in coaching and engaging others
    • Communicative in terms of being able to switch between tech & business language
    • A humble and transparent approach related to blindspots and weaknesses
    • A deep understanding of Developer Experience, utilizing lean thinking and theory of constraints to simplify and accelerate our product teams in their productivity and quality in delivery, security, and operations.
