    We are now looking for a PhD candidate in Ageing and Social Change, based at the Department of Culture and Society (IKOS), Division of Ageing and Social Change (ASC), in Norrköping.

    Your work assignments

    As a PhD candidate, you will work in the interdisciplinary research program 'DEM(H)CARE - Coordinated interventions between elder care, home health care, and primary care to develop best practice for older persons living at home with cognitive disorder'.

    The program aims to develop new, systematic knowledge to find solutions to collaboration problems and develop models for coordination between different actors in elder care, home care, municipal home care, and primary care who currently have different tasks to carry out care and care interventions for people with dementia at home.

    The program examines how municipalities and regions have organized care for older persons and how it works, as well as how older people receiving care at home, and their relatives, perceive their situation and how they would like to see care provided and coordinated. The program includes registers and surveys at national level and questionnaires, interviews, focus groups and observations at local level.

    As a PhD candidate associated with this program, you will have the opportunity to work interdisciplinary and in collaboration with both senior researchers and PhD candidates from different disciplines. You will participate in the ongoing research work in close collaboration with other researchers in the group.

    For the ASC division, we are looking for a PhD candidate whose thesis project will have a quantitative focus on developing and evaluating measurable quality indicators in elder care, as well as working with the collection and processing of survey and register data.

    As a PhD candidate, you devote most of your time to doctoral studies and the research projects of which you are part. Your work may also include teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time.

    Your workplace

    The research environment at ASC conducts interdisciplinary research on key social, political and cultural aspects of ageing. In addition to offering basic and advanced studies in these fields, the ASC also contributes to increasing knowledge about aging from a societal perspective. Read more here .

    Your qualifications

    You have graduated at Master's level in a subject relevant to the call (e.g. social work, sociology, gerontology, political science, statistics, public health or health sciences/medicine) or completed courses of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits are at advanced level in a subject relevant to the call, or otherwise acquired substantially equivalent knowledge.

    You have good analytical skills, and a strong interest in quantitative research. You have good teamwork skills and the ability to work under pressure. You are flexible and able to move between different types of educational and scientific contexts. You are also structured and able to plan, organize and prioritize work effectively.

    In addition, the following are particularly meritorious:

    a track record of scientific research, including documented scientific publication in peer-reviewed international scientific journals

    subject knowledge in ageing, welfare/social services, health or related fields

    previous experience in extracting, managing and analyzing large data sets

    documented knowledge in the use of statistical software such as Stata, SAS or R

    The position also requires a good command of English, both spoken and written, and the ability to work well in dialog with others. Swedish, both spoken and written, is an advantage. The applicants who are considered most meritorious will be invited to an interview.

    The employment

    When taking up the post, you will be admitted to the program for doctoral studies. More information about the doctoral studies at each faculty is available at Doctoral studies at Linköping University

    The employment has a duration of four years' full-time equivalent. You will initially be employed for a period of one year. The employment will subsequently be renewed for periods of maximum duration two years, depending on your progress through the study plan. The employment may be extended up to a maximum of five years, based on the amount of teaching and departmental duties you have carried out. Further extensions can be granted in special circumstances.
