    The School of Public Health and Community Medicine, at the Institute of Medicine, conducts extensive education and research in global public health, general practice/family medicine, occupational medicine, environmental medicine, social medicine, medicine use and pharmaceutical policy.

    We also conduct education and research within nutritional epidemiology, insurance medicine, innovation and utilization, health economics, biostatistics and register epidemiology.

    We are developing interdisciplinary work on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals with a focus on SGD 3 (health) and 8 (economical growth).

    A research team affiliated to the School of Public Health and Community Medicine works with developing methods for targeting and evaluating public health interventions for people living in neighbourhoods where the burden of disease is high or the participation in organised screening is low.

    The team consists of researcher s in epidemiological methods and health economics.

    Funds for the research have been received from the Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare (Forte) and the Swedish Cancer Society (Cancerfonden).

    Duties

    We seek a researcher who shall contribute to the development, adaptation, and dissemination of methods for 1) analysing sociodemographic and geographical variations in burdens of specific cancer diseases and 2) evaluation designs of targeted interventions aimed to improve early cancer detection.

    By register-based studies, the researcher shall bring to the fore new empirical knowledge for rational targeting of preventive efforts.

    Focus shall lie on creating an empirical basis for targeted interventions aimed at reducing the burden of liver cancer in Sweden.

    The work tasks will include responsibility for: 1) applications to seek ethical approvals, 2) collection of data from Swedish registries, 3) data management, 4) statistical analyses, 5) scientific reporting, and 6) activities to spread the achieved results to actors in the Swedish health care system.

    Qualifications

    A doctoral degree in medical science/epidemiology is a requirement. We also require documentation of solid experience of register-based cancer studies, including statistical analyses of epidemiological data.

    Supporting documentation of previous responsibility for applications to seek ethical approvals and collection of data from Swedish registries will be considered meritorious.

    Experience of relevant clinical work is considered suitable for this research appointment. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability, not least a good communication skill.
