- Study our base simulation environments, mostly MATLAB and Python
- Investigate performance of our current link adaptation solution in the presence of inter-link interference
- Develop an RL algorithm that optimizes link adaptation parameters of multiple links jointly.
- Investigate performance of the algorithm and compare with existing solutions.
- Report to the Research Manager.
- Basics of ML
- Wireless networks or equivalent (optional).
- Good background in Python (Matlab is a plus)

Wireless backhauling is essential for modern communication networks, connecting access points and base stations to the core infrastructure. Link adaptation is an important function of the microwave backhauling in which each transmitter adapts its transmission parameters (e.g., through adaptive coding and modulation scheme) to the current channel conditions. Current solutions focus on individual links, disregarding inter-link interference in their designs. This thesis proposes a novel framework for joint link adaptation of multiple links via reinforcement learning (RL), to mitigate interference and enhance backhauling performance. By adopting a holistic approach, this study contributes to the evolution of wireless backhauling optimization, striving to meet the growing demands of efficient and reliable communication networks.
