Akademiska sjukhuset, Uppsala university hospital is one of Sweden ́s largest hospitals, established as early as 1708 and situated in Uppsala, just north of Stockholm. We are a full-scale university hospital, and offer both unique medical knowledge and the most advanced care available. In addition to the role of county hospital, Akademiska is a provider of highly specialized care and serves two million people in central Sweden.
Scientific Environment
Uppsala hosts one of the world's leading scientific environments in PET imaging, comprising the Uppsala university hospital, Uppsala University and a thriving biotech sector. In the role of researcher, you will contribute to excellent science while collaborating closely with faculty, clinicians and technicians at Uppsala University ( , ) and the Uppsala university hospital PET center.
In your role as researcher, you will work independently in preclinical and/or clinical projects to develop, evaluate, and validate PET radiopharmaceuticals for molecular imaging of disease, with a focus on inflammatory and fibrotic processes in metabolic disease and cancer. The main duties are to be responsible for dedicated research projects while provide scientific support for other projects. You will have close mentorship and leadership from senior faculty, as well as technical support from lab technicians, staff scientists and junior colleagues. You will be able to develop your own research projects and apply for research grants. You are encouraged regularly present your research at scientific conferences and high impact journals. You are expected to contribute to applications for preclinical or regulatory approvals for your projects. The work duties will also include supervision of PhD students or M.Sc. students. Qualification required
We welcome applications from candidates that have a PhD degree in fields encompassing any part of PET and imaging technology, such as but not exclusively radiolabeling, preclinical evaluation or clinical imaging studies. The assessment of applications is based primarily on the applicant's ability to conduct independent research based on documented scientific skill. Completed courses in laboratory animal science and/or radiation protection are an advantage. The applicant must be fluent in English with excellent communication skills. Furthermore, it is advantageous if you have a thorough understanding of pathogenesis mechanisms and principles involving inflammation, fibrosis, metabolic disease and/or cancer. To succeed and thrive in the role, you need to be meticulous and responsible, and independently plan and carry out your work. We appreciate qualities such as flexibility and a stress tolerance. You need to be responsive, good at collaborating and have a desire to contribute to our positive working climate. The offer and how to apply
