Workplace Description

Kvarnbackaskolan is a municipal school located in northern Stockholm, close to Kista center. We have good results with well-functioning routines and structures. The school has about 340 students, each with their own experiences, pre-knowledge, and abilities. We work inclusively with our students with several of them in the customized elementary school being included in regular classes. Your mission involves working in the customized elementary school and collaborating with the regular school's staff. The staff atmosphere is positive, characterized by a strong collegial commitment.

Job Description

As a teaching teacher, you are responsible for planning and following up on the education for students studying according to subject areas in the customized elementary school. You collaborate with preschool teachers, student assistants, and other teachers to implement a quality educational program based on the curriculum and other governing documents. We work on improving the quality of the operations by actively contributing with our own knowledge within the team. Some of the methods we use include:

• Structure in the environment TEACCH. Visual aids.
• PECS Picture Exchange Communication System.
• AKK: sign language support.
• Social stories and comic conversations.
• ABA/TBA Applied Behavior Analysis principles.

The customized elementary school has a well-structured and uniform system, expertise in autism, and dedicated, experienced, and trained educators. Computers, iPads, document cameras, and interactive whiteboards are some of the tools we use in teaching. The school works from an inclusive perspective, where some students are fully included in regular classes while others participate based on their abilities and needs.

Qualifications

• Special Education Teacher with a focus on customized elementary school or equivalent university education.
• Experience with alternative and augmentative communication is a plus, as well as experience with intellectual disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders.
• Experience working with students with special needs.
• Be a creative and flexible individual with good collaboration skills.
• Strong ICT skills.
• Ability to work independently with the student in focus.
• Excellent proficiency in spoken and written Swedish.

Experience working with students studying according to the curriculum for customized elementary school subjects is an advantage.
