COVID Protocols: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided, temperatures checked for providers and veterans, rooms sanitized between appointments, appointments staggered to support 6ft of social distancing, and other measures.

Position Overview: As a locum, you will conduct evaluations based on disability questionnaires provided by the VA and attached to each veteran's records. These evaluations are done so that the veteran can continue to receive their disability benefits. Each evaluation takes roughly 40min-1hr, including documenting their responses and any notes.
Schedule and Frequency: Veterans are only scheduled when you are available. You will coordinate your schedule with a Scheduler. Your availability will determine the number of patients you see per shift.
Volume: There are no minimums or maximums regarding the number of patients to be seen per shift.
Location and Sites: Veterans will be seen in person at an offsite medical facility, a doctor's office rented for the day, or within a reasonable driving distance of up to 50 miles. Phone consultations may also be held to clarify a veteran's condition or respond to an addendum from the VA.
Credentialing: A brief introduction will be conducted prior to credentialing, which usually takes up to 7-10 days once all documentation and assessments have been completed.

Training: After credentialing is complete, a welcome email will be sent with a link to the online training. This provides access to a representative at all times to help when needed.
Completion of Charting/Addendums: All charting is done in an Electronic Health Record (EHR). Addendums can be found in this system as well. Incomplete charting may result in delayed benefits for veterans and reduced potential work.
Step 1 - Items Needed to Clear Name: The following items are required to get your name cleared before sending the credentialing packet:

1. Current Curriculum Vitae (CV)
2. Unrestricted Medical License
3. Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
4. National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) self-inquiry report

Mandatory Steps for Full Credentialing:

1. Step 2 - Complete Critical Access Network Contract
2. Step 3 - Brief Interview (as needed)
3. Step 4 - Complete client credentialing package
4. Step 5 - Complete client assessments within 48 hours
5. Step 6 - Watch online training videos for navigating the physician portal and completing notes

Compensation: Payment rates are as follows: DBQs (Disability Worksheets) Rates:

• 1-5 DBQs: $150
• 6-9 DBQs: $200
• 10-14 DBQs: $400
• 15-22 DBQs: $500
• 23+ DBQs: n/a
• Gen Med exams (with exam): $150; (without exam): $25
• No-Show fee: $50
