    Overview

    The Director, Material Planning and Logistics (MP&L) will have the overall responsibility for the materials planning and logistics area coordinating best practices to ensure that all materials are ordered and delivered in time and according to requested demand from suppliers. This role will play an integral role in managing incoming orders from the customer and providing the vision and oversight to meet the business objective of zero supply chain disturbances, continuous cost optimizations and improved profitability.

    The Director, MP&L is also responsible for optimizing costs and maintaining set budgets while managing a geographically spread team across global locations.

    Position Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for all MP&L activities across the business
  • Manage a supply chain team that are responsible for all suppliers including component and material suppliers, contract assemblers and/or manufacturers and freight forwarders.
  • Responsible for On Time Delivery to our production facilities as well as to the customer
  • Lead the forecasting, planning, material requirements and inventory management processes.
  • Working closely with the Operations Teams to develop and drive product assembly line planning and parts procurement, and shipment of the product to the customers
  • Analyze and evaluate inventory levels and delivery issues, recommend and/or implement solutions to optimize inventory levels and manufacturing schedules.
  • Define and implement strategies and processes to ensure the most economical movement of materials and to achieve cost-effective logistics practices including Lean Manufacturing tools.
  • Coordinate with other functional groups (including engineering, production, and product management) to ensure the smooth flow of materials, especially during the introduction of new products and/or features, and the end-of-life process.
  • Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the materials planning and logistics strategy; maintain a high level of service
  • Provide leadership, coordination and coaching to the team, ensuring they are trained enabling them to achieve the operational and financial metrics within their areas of responsibility and succeed in their roles
  • Take ownership of MP&L policies, procedures, guidelines and any associated documents.

    • Position Requirements

  • Bachelor of Business Administration / Materials Management /Technical degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Several years of MP&L experience in a similar role with documented previous experience as a MP&L leader (Manager or Director) is preferred
  • Experience with an automotive manufacturing company is preferred
  • Proven record of working in a fast-paced high demand environment desirable
  • Track record of effectively resolving customer related issues, improving processes and reducing inventory
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and to build a positive rapport within all levels of the organization in a global company
  • Proven ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders, customers and external providers
  • Confidence in communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Commercially and financially astute with experience of managing budgets
