    JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.

    The Route Development Manager is responsible for growing sales in the designated route, Nordic & Baltics and APAC, through mainly direct sales activity and secondarily supporting the local sales force and overseas counterparts. The Route Development Manager operates in a designated area (APAC). This position is the expert on his/her designated route and the first point of contact for questions regarding their route. Work location is flexible but must be connected to one of our +30 branches across the Nordic & Baltic. THE ROUTE DEVELOPMENT MANAGER will cooperate with the Global Account Team and Automotive Vertical on opportunities relevant to the lane.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Maintain extensive knowledge of designated route including ports, airports, cities and JAS offices.
    • Familiar with local laws applicable to the route that affect the trade and customers
    • Maintain regular contact either in person or via conference calls with overseas contacts and counterparts
    • Develop presentations about the route to be presented to Operations and Sales teams at the branch level
    • Identify differentiators in the route to sell to customers
    • Monthly reporting of sales activity
    • The IMPORT RDM is ultimately responsible for the route pipeline in the area of competence
    • Available to local sales staff for information regarding route and to attend sales meetings with customers
    • Maintain extensive knowledge of services offered and charges applicable to the route to maintain competitive edge
    • Organize functions for customers on the route with visiting counterparts and a minimum of two route specific seminars per year for route specific prospects
    • Prepare and present quarterly action plan and progress report to the trade lane director
    • Other duties as may be assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
    • Excellent written and verbal skills
    • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite
    • Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines
    • Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently
    • Strong negotiating skills
    • Able to travel extensive domestically and internationally
    • Safe driving record

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • College degree in related field or combination of education and experience
    • Minimum 5 years successful international freight forwarding sales experience
    • Extensive knowledge of import/export processes and laws
