Faris Mahmud Jimie

I am a graduate of study and career counselling from Umeå University in Sweden. I currently work as a career counsellor in a folk high school. Besides, I am a consultant for the International Organization for Migration, the UN Migration Agency (IOM) as a Cross-Cultural Facilitator for Sweden bound quota refugees. 

The last decade I have mostly been working as a reception assistant for unacompained minors, assylum seekers to Sweden, My experstise has mostly been in the integeration process where my some of my tasks were; Providing cultural orientation as well as assisting in making study and career choises. Since 2021 I have been consulting for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) as a Cross- Cultural facilitator for Sweden bound qouta refugees where I provide Pre-departure orientation in their second asylum countries. 

I gained my batchelor degree as a Study and Career Counsellor from the University of Umeå in Northern Sweden. I have parallely with my batchelor studies attended a one year course called Milsa education, a program for migration and health Facilitators as a joint action between actors from different sectors and researchers from different disciplines. The work in MILSA has aimed to contribute to practice-based know development and more effect collaboration processes within Migration Facilitation.
